Man charged with disorderly conduct after taking tiger into bar
A man has been charged with disorderly conduct after he entered a bar – not because he got blindingly drunk, but because he took a tiger into it.
John Basile, 57, casually took the animal for a walk into Uncle Richie’s Bar in Lockport, Illinois, on February 15 – and it apparently wasn’t the first time, reported CNN affiliate WBBM.
The tiger cub is an animal at Basile’s animal rescue centre Big Run Wolf Ranch, which is licensed by the federal government.
While some people at the bar thought the unusual addition was cute, the police thought otherwise.
‘My concern was really for the people who frequent the downtown area,’ Lockport Police Chief Terry Lemming told the affiliate.
Witness Frances Escoe said: ‘There were people in their cars shouting like, “Is that a tiger? Is that a tiger?” going over the Ninth Street Bridge.’
Basile has also been charged with reckless conduct and possession of a dangerous animal.
